In a dominant position over the village, on the banks of the river Almonda, part of the so-called Tagus Line, the old medieval castle remains the former libris of the village.
The castle, of approximately rectangular plan, presented walls garrisoned primitively by nine towers, delimiting the place of arms.
The fence of the village was originally torn by three doors, now missing, leaving only a section of it to the east of the castle.
Considered as National Monument.
