After donating all his personal assets to the Recife City Hall, the painter Murillo La Greca realized an old dream. Inaugurated in 1985, the Murillo La Greca Museum was created by Decree Law and honors this namesake from Pernambuco, whose sensitivity has traveled the world. The Murillo La Greca Museum has been leading the artistic and heritage restructuring of one of the most important museum collections in Pernambuco.
Featuring a collection of 1,400 drawings, featuring fusain, crayon, pastel and bloodthirsty techniques, the museum still has long-lasting records, books and furniture in four of the eight exhibition halls. There are also 160 paintings, including landscapes, portraits and impressionists and letters, exchanged with Portinari and Giacometti. It was in this collection that La Greca left its unmistakable mark, having its strength in the diversity of his artistic work, the approximation with contemporary art. This rich heritage is available to the population of Recife, currently more intense and organic.
To disseminate and oxygenate this rich collection is being developed an educational work, bringing the Museum to a more dynamic space, encouraging training through workshops and courses, as well as curatorships to foster the artistic production of our city. The Amplifiers Project is one of the strategies that make up the set of activities that reinforce the Museum's relationship with artists, curators and society in general.
