Initiated by the Gauteng Department of Education and the private sector in 2004, the center is committed to addressing the scarce skills needs of South Africa by contributing to the effective delivery of quality mathematics, science and technology education in all schools in the province.
Sci-Bono's teacher development department is responsible for the training of all Gauteng maths, science and technology educators while the BHP Billiton Career Center @ Sci-Bono includes a career resource library and offers comprehensive career guidance and support to all Gauteng schools through workshops and psychometric assessments. .
Housed in the historic Electric Workshop in Newtown, Johannesburg, the center includes state of the art classrooms, a 240 seater auditorium, two fully equipped science laboratories and an ICT laboratory.
The award winning center offers edutaining birthday parties and holiday programs and boasts over 350 interactive exhibits designed to satisfy curious minds of all ages.
