It was inaugurated in 1975 on the occasion of the XXIII National Lions Convention in this city. Its project was carried out by the landscape architect Alfonso Leiva and its construction by the firm Leiva y Vega Ltda.
This park, built at the initiative of the Lions Clubs, led by the Club Cúcuta Centro, is located at the intersection of diagonal Santander with Avenida O.
It was the first park where a light source functioned in Cúcuta. The forestry engineer Guillermo Vega Pérez, made the first transplant of a Saman in this park that today stands majestic.
